Plant Growing Tips

Where to Grow

Alexandra Palms thrive in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate full sun. They are well-suited for outdoor environments in tropical and subtropical regions. Ensure they receive plenty of light to promote healthy growth.

Climate

This plant prefers warm, humid conditions, typical of tropical climates. It grows best in temperatures between 18°C and 28°C. Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C, as it is sensitive to cold weather.

Soil Type

Plant the Alexandra Palm in well-draining soil. A mix of sandy or loamy soil with good organic matter ensures proper drainage and provides the nutrients needed for growth. Avoid heavy, clay soils that retain too much moisture.

Fertilizer

Feed the plant with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a fertiliser that includes micronutrients like magnesium, manganese, and iron to support healthy growth.

Plant Care

Watering

Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Increase watering during warmer months to compensate for higher evaporation, and scale back in cooler seasons to prevent overwatering.

Pruning

Remove dead or yellowing fronds to promote healthy new growth and maintain a tidy appearance. Regular pruning helps keep the palm looking vibrant and well-maintained.
