Alcanterea “Silver Plum”

Alcanterea Silver Plum is a stunning large growing, sun tolerant variety of Bromeliad.

It makes a wonderful specimen plant either in a pot or garden bed.

Silver plum will grow best in full sun or part shade and grow to approximately 1m x1m.

Silver Plum prefers the soil to be very free draining and left to dry out before re-watering, but the top/throat of the plant should always contain some water.

They are low maintenance and generally pest and disease free.

Where to Grow

Alcanterea 'Silver Plum' does best in full sun to partial shade. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors. When grown indoors, place it in a spot with plenty of bright, indirect light. Outdoors, choose a location that receives morning sun and afternoon shade.

Climate

Alcanterea 'Silver Plum' prefers a warm, tropical to subtropical climate. It can tolerate cooler temperatures but should be protected from frost. Ideal temperatures range between 15-30°C.

Soil Type

Use a well-draining, sandy or loamy soil mix. A combination of garden soil, compost, and sand or perlite is ideal. Ensure the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged, as this plant is sensitive to overwatering.

Fertilizer

Fertilise your Alcanterea 'Silver Plum' every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when the plant's growth slows down.
