Harpullia Pendula 'Tulipwood' flourishes in full sun to partial shade. It is ideal for growing in gardens, as a feature tree, or as a street tree. Ensure the location has well-draining soil and good air circulation to prevent disease.
Tulipwood prefers a warm, subtropical to tropical climate. It can tolerate light frost once established but should be protected from severe frost and cold winds. Ideal temperatures range between 15-30°C.
Use a well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils with good organic matter are ideal. This plant is tolerant of poor soils but will thrive in richer conditions. Ensure the soil remains moderately moist but not waterlogged.
Fertilise your Harpullia Pendula with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Additional feeding can be done during the growing season with a liquid fertiliser if the plant appears to need a boost.
Water Harpullia Pendula regularly during its establishment phase to ensure healthy growth. Once established, it is relatively drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods to maintain its vigor.
Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a neat shape and remove dead or damaged branches. For older plants, more significant pruning can help rejuvenate growth and manage size effectively.
