Callistemon “Little John” is a dwarf rounded dense shrub which is covered in dark red bottle brush flowers in spring.
Great for borders in a shrubbery or as a hedge.
Little john will grow up to 1.5m tall and should be pruned after flowering to keep a dense compact shape.
As with all bottle brushes, they are very adaptable and flower best in a full sun position.
Give an annual application of slow release fertiliser in the spring.
Callistemon 'Little John' thrives in full sun to partial shade. It is ideal for growing in gardens, as a hedge, or in containers. Ensure the location has well-draining soil and good air circulation to prevent disease.
Callistemon 'Little John' prefers a warm, temperate to subtropical climate. It can tolerate light frost but should be protected from severe frost and cold winds. Ideal temperatures range between 10-30°C.
Use a well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils with good organic matter are ideal. This plant is tolerant of poor soils but will thrive in richer conditions. Ensure the soil remains moderately moist but not waterlogged.
Fertilise your Callistemon 'Little John' with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Additional feeding can be done during the growing season with a liquid fertiliser if the plant appears to need a boost.
