Philodendron Xanadu.
Philodenron Xanadu is a glossy leaf evergreen plant that grows to about 1m x 1m and is generally used as a border in tropical gardens.
Xanadu is a low maintenance plant that can be grown in semi shade or full sun. Fertilise yearly at the start of Spring.
Philodendron Xanadu thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause the leaves to scorch. It is ideal for indoor growing but can also be placed in a shaded outdoor area.
Philodendron Xanadu prefers a warm, humid environment. Ideal temperatures range between 18-24°C. Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Use a well-draining potting mix. A combination of peat, pine bark, and perlite is ideal. The soil should remain moist but not waterlogged, as this can lead to root rot.
Fertilise your Philodendron Xanadu every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when the plant's growth slows down.
Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid overwatering. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. During winter, water less frequently as the plant’s growth slows.
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves to support healthy growth. Trim stems if they become overly long or sparse to maintain the plant’s shape and encourage bushier growth.
Be vigilant for pests like spider mites, scale insects, and mealybugs. Address infestations swiftly using neem oil or insecticidal soap. Good airflow around the plant helps reduce the risk of fungal infections.
