Dipladenia “Rio White” is a versatile perennial plant suited to warm climates giving a tropical feel to the garden .
The leaves are a lush glossy green paired with large clear white flowers that are profuse for most of the year.
They grow best in full sun to part shade and grow approx. 50cmx50cm. Prune in the spring and again in late summer to keep stray tendrils in check.
If growing in a pot or basket, fertilise monthly with a liquid fertiliser to keep them flowering all year round.
We generally have these plants in stock all year round as we grow them here on site. Other colours available include pink and red Dipladenias.
Dipladenia (*Mandevilla sanderi*) thrives in full sun to partial shade. For optimal flowering, choose a location that receives at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. This tropical climber is ideal for containers, hanging baskets, or garden beds where it can spread and display its beautiful trumpet-shaped flowers. Ensure the planting site has well-draining soil, as Dipladenia does not tolerate overly wet conditions.
Dipladenia prefers a warm, tropical to subtropical climate and grows best in temperatures between 18°C and 30°C. It is sensitive to frost, so in cooler climates, consider growing it as an annual or bringing it indoors during winter. In warmer regions, Dipladenia blooms from spring through autumn, producing vibrant red, pink, or white flowers.
Plant Dipladenia in well-draining soil. It adapts well to sandy or loamy soils enriched with organic matter, such as compost. The ideal pH is slightly acidic to neutral (5.5-7.0). Adding compost or peat moss improves soil quality, supports root health, and promotes vibrant blooms.
Feed Dipladenia with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support vigorous growth and flowering. An additional application in mid-summer can help sustain blooms. Organic options, such as compost or seaweed extract, are also beneficial for maintaining soil fertility.
