Sansevieria laurentii.
Mother in-laws tongue or snake plant is a upright architectural succulent that will tolerate nearly any condition except wet.
Will cope with hot dry areas, and windy coastal conditions. Full sun to full shade (but well lit), indoor or outdoors.
The stiff fleshy leaves will grow to about 1m tall.
Makes a great potted specimen.
Mother-in-Law's Tongue, also known as Snake Plant, thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low light conditions. The variegated variety is perfect for indoor environments like homes and offices where it can add a decorative touch with its unique leaf patterns. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and cause the variegation to fade.
This plant prefers warm, dry conditions. It grows best in temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. Keep it away from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C, as it is sensitive to cold weather.
Plant Mother-in-Law's Tongue in well-draining soil. A cactus or succulent potting mix with added perlite or sand will ensure proper drainage and prevent root rot. Avoid heavy, water-retentive soils.
Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilising in the autumn and winter when the plant's growth slows down. Use a diluted fertiliser to avoid over-fertilising, which can harm the plant.
