Crassula ovata gollum.
An attractive, evergreen, multi branching succulent with fleshy coral shaped leaves.
Clusters of small pinkish white flower appear above the foliage during winter.
Gollum is slow growing and reaches about 60cm wide and 80cm high.
Suitable as a potted specimen ,in a rockery or as a bonsai.
Prefers a warm sunny to part shade position but will grow indoors in a well lit position.
Crassula Gollum is very drought tolerant and will withstand periods of dryness.
Use a free draining mix and let the soil dry out before re-watering.
Crassula Gollum thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate full sun. It is ideal for indoor settings near sunny windows or outdoor environments with some protection from intense afternoon sun. Ensure it receives at least 4-6 hours of light daily for optimal growth.
This plant prefers warm, dry conditions, similar to its native arid environment. It grows best in temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C, as it is not frost-tolerant.
Plant Crassula Gollum in well-draining soil. A cactus or succulent potting mix with added sand or perlite will ensure proper drainage and prevent water retention, which can lead to root rot.
Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a diluted fertiliser to half strength to avoid over-fertilising, which can harm the plant.
Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again. Water sparingly, approximately every 2-3 weeks, and reduce the frequency during cooler months. Well-draining soil is essential to prevent root rot from excess moisture.
Prune as required to remove dead or damaged leaves and maintain the plant’s shape. Cutting back leggy growth can encourage a fuller, more compact appearance.
Keep an eye out for pests like mealybugs and spider mites. Promptly treat infestations with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Ensuring adequate air circulation helps to minimize fungal problems and maintain plant health.
