Bambino Bougainvilleas are a range of smaller growing Bougainvillea ideally suited to growing in a container, as a topiary, small hedge or in a smaller garden.
Bambino Bougs are very hardy once they are established.
Nonya 'Bambino' Bougainvillea thrives in full sun. This compact variety is ideal for small gardens, balconies, and containers. It can also be used as a colorful ground cover or trained along trellises and fences. Select a location with well-draining soil and good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
Nonya 'Bambino' Bougainvillea prefers warm, subtropical to tropical climates. It can tolerate light frost once established but should be protected from severe frost and cold winds. Optimal growth occurs at temperatures between 18-30°C. In cooler regions, consider growing it in pots that can be moved indoors during winter.
This Bougainvillea variety thrives in well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils enriched with organic matter are ideal. While it can adapt to poorer soils, it will produce more vibrant blooms in nutrient-rich conditions. Ensure the soil remains moderately moist but not waterlogged to prevent root rot.
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. During the blooming season, switch to a high-potassium fertiliser to promote abundant flowering. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers as they can result in excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowers. Be careful not to over-fertilise, as this can damage the roots.
