Fire Fly 'Bambino' Bougainvillea flourishes in full sun. This vibrant and compact variety is ideal for small gardens, balconies, and containers. It can be used as a striking ground cover or trained along trellises and fences. Ensure the planting site has well-draining soil and is exposed to good air circulation to keep the plant healthy.
Fire Fly 'Bambino' Bougainvillea thrives in warm, subtropical to tropical climates. It can withstand light frost once established, but it should be protected from harsh winter conditions. Optimal growth occurs at temperatures between 18-30°C. In cooler climates, consider planting it in a pot that can be moved indoors during the winter months.
This Bougainvillea variety prefers well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils enriched with organic matter are ideal. While it can adapt to poorer soils, it will produce more vibrant blooms in nutrient-rich conditions. Ensure the soil is kept moderately moist but not waterlogged to prevent root rot.
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. During the blooming season, switch to a high-potassium fertiliser to promote abundant flowering. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers as they can result in excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowers. Be cautious not to over-fertilise, as this can damage the roots.
