Elaeocarpus eumundii flourishes in full sun to partial shade. It is ideal for growing in gardens, as a feature tree, or as a screen or hedge. Ensure the location has well-draining soil and good air circulation to prevent disease.
Elaeocarpus eumundii prefers a warm, subtropical to tropical climate. It can tolerate light frost once established but should be protected from severe frost and cold winds. Ideal temperatures range between 10-30°C.
Use a well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils with good organic matter are ideal. This plant is tolerant of poor soils but will thrive in richer conditions. Ensure the soil remains moderately moist but not waterlogged.
Fertilise your Elaeocarpus eumundii with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Additional feeding can be done during the growing season with a liquid fertiliser if the plant appears to need a boost.
