Adenanthos Sericeus is also known as the “Albany Woolly Bush”.
It is a medium sized shrub with beautifully soft decorative foliage which is greenish/grey in colour.
During the spring and through summer it produces tiny red flowers on the ends of the branches. Adenanthos makes an excellent garden specimen on its own or in a pot, although it can be hedged and makes a great wind break.
Grows in most soils except heavy, poorly drained locations.
Grows 1m x 1m high in full sun to part shade.
Prune after flowering.
Adenanthos Sericeus Dwarf Form prospers in full sun to partial shade. It is ideal for growing in gardens, as a feature plant, or in containers. Ensure the location has well-draining soil and good air circulation to prevent disease.
Adenanthos Sericeus prefers a warm, temperate to Mediterranean climate. It can tolerate light frost once established but should be protected from severe frost and cold winds. Ideal temperatures range between 10-30°C.
Use a well-draining soil. Sandy or loamy soils with good organic matter are ideal. This plant is tolerant of poor soils but will flourish in richer conditions. Ensure the soil remains moderately moist but not waterlogged.
Fertilise your Adenanthos Sericeus with a low-phosphorus, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Avoid using high-phosphorus fertilisers, as Adenanthos are sensitive to phosphorus.
